“This painting brings together several special places for me. I photographed this Bonaparte's Gull on the shores of South Carolina, but am familiar with them in wetland areas of Alberta where I lived for many years and raised my family. It is a frequent visitor to the shores of British Columbia where I now live and this scene could easily translate to the coastline there. This Bonaparte’s Gull looks off towards “distant shores” as it prepares to travel once more.”
